KV EAC, Upper Shillong, Silchar

Kendriya Vidyalaya Eastern Air Command was established on February 1, 1966, with Shri P.C. Jain as its founding principal.

In terms of its development:

  • Growth: Over time, the Vidyalaya achieved notable recognition, being designated as a “Model School” in 1994 and a “Smart School” in 1997.
  • Expansion: Initially, there was only one class section for classes VI to XI in 1966. However, in 1968, a primary section was introduced, covering classes I to V. Subsequently, the school expanded to include two and later three sections for each class, as it stands today.
  • Campus: The school originally operated across two separate campuses. The secondary and senior secondary sections were situated in Nongthemai, while the primary section was located near Police Bazar at Forest Hodge. In 1979, the Vidyalaya was relocated to the Eastern Air Command in Upper Shillong. At this new location, separate buildings were provided for the primary and secondary sections. In 1994, a new building was constructed, and both the primary and secondary sections were moved there.
  • Facilities: Kendriya Vidyalaya Eastern Air Command, Upper Shillong, places strong emphasis on the overall development of its students. The school shares facilities with the Eastern Air Command for various sports and games activities. Furthermore, a dedicated ground has been developed to enhance these facilities.
